Reburn, formerly known as 4A Games Ukraine, has unveiled their latest project: La Quimera, a story-driven first-person shooter set in a futuristic Latin America. This announcement marks a significant shift from their previous work on the Metro series, introducing players to a vibrant new world filled with advanced technology and complex narratives.
A New Chapter for Reburn
Established in 2006, 4A Games Ukraine gained recognition for developing the Metro series, which immersed players in the post-apocalyptic landscapes of Moscow. In 2025, the studio rebranded as Reburn, signaling a fresh direction in their game development journey. With over 110 developers from the original Metro team, Reburn aims to blend their foundational values with innovative intellectual properties.
Introducing La Quimera
Set in the year 2064, La Quimera transports players to a dystopian Latin America, where nation-states have fragmented into microstates relying on private military companies (PMCs) for defense. Players assume the role of a PMC operative navigating a world rife with deception and conflict. The game offers both single-player and cooperative modes, allowing up to two friends to join the mission. Equipped with futuristic weapons, exoskeletons, and combat abilities, players will explore diverse environments, from sprawling megalopolises to dense jungles.
Hollywood Collaboration
La Quimera boasts a narrative crafted by acclaimed filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn, known for Drive and The Neon Demon, in collaboration with writer E.J.A. Warren. This partnership aims to deliver a rich, immersive storyline that challenges players to reflect on the consequences of technological and societal advancements.
Gameplay and Features
The game emphasizes a blend of intense combat and strategic gameplay. Players will utilize advanced weaponry and technology, including exoskeletons that enhance combat capabilities. The dynamic environments of La Quimera promise varied gameplay experiences, from urban warfare in futuristic cities to tactical operations in untamed jungles.
Reburn’s Vision
Reburn’s rebranding signifies more than a name change; it represents a rebirth for the Ukrainian team, now self-publishing and open to collaborations with other publishers. This independence allows them to innovate and explore new creative directions, as evidenced by La Quimera. The studio’s commitment to delivering high-quality, narrative-driven experiences remains steadfast, building upon their legacy while venturing into new territories.
