RocketJump Returns: ‘We’re All Gonna Die’ Hits Theaters March 2025

RocketJump returns with 'We're All Gonna Die,' a sci-fi adventure premiering at SXSW 2024 and hitting theaters in March 2025.

After a six-year hiatus, RocketJump, the creative force behind some of YouTube’s most iconic VFX shorts, has announced its return with a new feature film, “We’re All Gonna Die.” Co-founders Freddie Wong and Matthew Arnold have self-financed this independent project, marking a significant milestone 15 years after their early viral hit, “Real-Life Portal Gun.”

Set in a world overshadowed by a 10,000-mile-tall alien tentacle known as “the Spike,” society has adapted to this looming presence. The narrative follows a struggling beekeeper and a grieving wanderer who embark on a cross-country journey after the Spike mysteriously teleports the beekeeper’s hives and the wanderer’s cherished car across the nation. This adventure explores a transformed yet familiar America, blending science fiction with human emotion.

The film stars Ashly Burch and Jordan Rodrigues, bringing depth to this unique storyline. “We’re All Gonna Die” premiered in competition at SXSW 2024, receiving attention for its innovative approach and storytelling.

Freddie Wong describes the film as an experiment reminiscent of RocketJump’s early YouTube endeavors, where they captivated audiences with VFX-rich genre mashups and parodies. This project signifies a return to their creative roots, aiming to push artistic boundaries further.

“We’re All Gonna Die” is scheduled for theatrical release on March 7, 2025. Fans can check the official website for a list of screening locations, with more theaters being added as the release date approaches.
